Bogotá — Barrio Egipto

Casa Buena Semilla

The heart where it all began

Our first house

A safe space in the midst of adversity

In the central-eastern part of Bogotá, one of the city's most violent and socially excluded neighborhoods, we opened our first House in 2002. Every day we serve more than 80 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 16 who live in extreme vulnerability.

Casa Buena Semilla is far more than a soup kitchen: it is a comprehensive support ecosystem that runs every day of the year. We start with nutrition, because without a well-nourished body and mind, nothing else is possible.

We add academic support so no child has to drop out of school. And we build character through values formation — showing them there is a different path from what the streets offer.

The House is also the operational heart of all our workshops and projects in Bogotá: Tejiendo Corazones, Tallando Vidas, the community garden, community tourism and Proyecto Nehemías. In addition, the House hosts arts, songwriting and music workshops, painting, weaving and woodworking, and a football sports club.

Urban agriculture

Through our educational organic urban garden, we teach children environmental awareness, self-sustainability and the fight against hunger, promoting biodiversity, practical skills and community strengthening.

Fundación Buena Semilla — escuela de fútbol y deportes

We use sport and football as a mechanism to build discipline, values, teamwork, communication and self-esteem, fostering healthy habits that keep children away from gangs, drug addiction and crime.

Fundación Buena Semilla — taller Antivirus proyecto de vida

"Antivirus" Life Project Workshop

We empower teenagers to develop their character and make wise decisions, starting from the importance of BEING in order to DO and then to HAVE, giving them an 'antivirus' against drug addiction, crime, drug trafficking and school dropout.
